Please use the search function in the tool bar to look up partitioning. Someone seems to ask about this every week, at least, and if you go back a month or 2, you’ll doubtless find all the arguments against partitioning your media drives. There is no reason to partition your media drives (unless you want them to be less stable & slower).

Checked your cables? What happens if you start swapping cables, drives & inputs? Do the same dirves act up? Same cables? Same ports on the drives? Enquiring minds want to know…

I’ve had no problems at all since upgrading to 10.3.9. I’ve captured video & laid off to tape with no problems whatsoever. Perhaps there’s something more specific to your troubles. Did you repair permissions after you upgraded? Are you daisy chaining your drives & deck together? What kind of drive enclosures?

Well, for that I suspect you’ll need less of a CPU, & more of a narrator! 😉
I’m afraid that any solution involving a CG voice will sound like it’s some sort of CG voice. If you’re looking for “gravitas”, then you’ll have to find a person who can provide the right amount.

OK, I’m not a lawyer either (nor do I play one on tv, nor do I edit TV shows about lawyers…), but I’m pretty sure that “Fair Use” & “TV Commercial” are mutually exclusive. You might want to check with a lawyer about that.
Either find the $$ to get proper rights to any music & album covers that you want to use, or find some other music & visual that’s within the budget.

There’s a very obscure web site called apple.com that has loads of information about what’s compatible with FCP (& other Apple products. Here’s what they say:

Be aware that these are only the minimum specs. And they don’t cover any of the recommended accessories (video monitor, mixer, DVD burner, etc) that you’ll likely need to use as well.Arnie

Well, it’s entirely possible that the person you spoke to really didn’t know what you wanted. I’m guessing that you spoke to a salesperson, but you really wanted to speak with an engineer.
The above advice pretty much covers it, especially Kevin’s. You’ll also need to use a broadcast monitor that can be calibrated to color bars, & a good eye.

You can also do a search in the browser for either used or unused media in a particular sequence or in the project as a whole.

You don’t use jkl, you use the comma & period keys. Comma moves you to the left, period to the right.
