[Dave] “Can we make part of a clip offline without media managing the project?”

You might be able to media manage just one or 2 individual clips. The process may be a bit complicated. Also, if the reel names weren’t properly logged, you may be SOL.

October 31, 2005 at 4:56 pm in reply to: Why my audio be wacky and out of sync?

[RitaKSanders] ” And the shots that are out of sync CHANGE when the SAME dvd is played in different dvd players. And the same footage has been made into dvds in DSP 3 many times before without any sync issues. “

Which leads to the next obvious question: did you use uncompressed audio, or did you encode the audio to AC3? If you’re using uncompressed audio, that’s the most likely culprit. You should use aPack to encode it to AC3.

Forgive me for asking, but you have checked to make sure that the audio is in sync for those shots on your tape, right?

You really, really, really need to speak to an experienced copyright lawyer about this kind of thing. And while you’re at it, you might want to have them draw up the license.

[CharlieX2] “I still see that “Delete Unused Media” isn’t working. Super. “

In my experience, most of the ‘bugs’ in the media manager are due to people either not logging their media & reel numbers properly, or not using the proper options in MM. Cause, I’ve got to tell you it’s worked for me on some pretty complex projects.

October 25, 2005 at 3:13 pm in reply to: FCP effects, Plugins?

I’ve been using Graeme’s film effects as a soft focus filter. It gives a really rich look if you spend a minute or 2 tweaking it. You can also play with the color balance, saturation, grain & tint to achieve lots of dream-scape style effects.

Film Effects wins the Arnie seal of approval!

Which is why they say “you can choose your friends, but you’re stuck with family”.

Was your relative prosecuted? If so, you might want to contact the prosecutor’s office that did so, & ask them what your options are. Also contact any police or other law enforcement agencies that you know of that may have arrested or investigated your relative.

I hope that you can find a way to correct this. Best of luck!

Pict files (.pct) are probably the most friendly. They can be either compressed or uncompressed & can carry an alpha channel. FCP will also work with targa, tiff, jpeg, & png formats.

October 19, 2005 at 9:37 pm in reply to: Using Compression Markers

For me, Compressor does weird things when trying to use 2-pass mpeg 2. Near as I can tell, it’s including audio in the file, which increases the file size above what I can fit on a DVD for a 2-4 hour movie.

That & the fact they won’t let you make mpeg 2 in half D1 or SIF resolutions.
