  • Recapture part of a clip?

Posted by Dave Jenkins on November 7, 2005 at 5:11 pm

We inherited a project that was captured with dropped frames in the footage. In the final edit there are about six clips that need to be recaptured. However the clips were captured in very large chuncks, most of the DV tape. Can we make part of a clip offline without media managing the project?

    Thanks,

You might be able to media manage just one or 2 individual clips. The process may be a bit complicated. Also, if the reel names weren’t properly logged, you may be SOL.

With such a small handful of clips, I’d just note the in and out point, add 3 seconds on either side for handles, log them in and batch capture. Then I’d re-edit them in. Probably take a LOT less time than trying to force FCP to create new clips for you.

If it were 100 clips, I’d futz. For 6, I’d just make my own.

But, like Arniepix said, if they didn’t leave you with proper reel names, it’ll be an uphill battle regardless!!

    Good luck!

Good idea, sometimes you can’t see the easy solutions thought the technology. Log the clips and batch capture sounds like the way to go.
