In your sequence settings (apple-zero) make sure your video processing is set to YUV.

It doesn’t. The resolution of NTSC (or PAL) video is the same regardless of whether you see it on a 13″, 19″, 27″ or 52″ monitor: 720X486 (or 720X576 for PAL). The DPI is essentially meaningless. The only benefit to using a specific DPI in your still graphics software is that it lets you know how big your type will be at a specific point size. IOW, 24point type at 72dpi is going to look larger than 24 point type at 150dpi for the same 720X486 image.

Bit of a conundrum there- if it’s not shipping, then it’s not really on the market!
FWIW, These kind of threads sometimes help people like me. We’re looking at both Kona & Multibridge for an upcoming feature. Hearing about stability & the quality of the support from people who know how to use the product means more to me than looking back through posts from people who’s problems often seem to stem from user errors (wrong version of QT, drivers, slow hard drives, improper monitoring, etc).

Nope, I don’t think you can. You might want to make a feature request to Apple- look for a menu choice in FCP to “Provide Feedback” link under either the Apple or FCP menu.

Both you & your friend should open up your FCP manuals & look up “Log & Capture”. It’s best to avoid using FCPs Capture Now feature if the material your working with has timecode. If you don’t have timecode (VHS, for example), then you have no choice, but if you do have timecode, there’s nothing to be lost, & much to be gained by logging your tapes. Most of the ‘bugs’ that people have with media management & project management are related to people not logging their tapes properly.
BTW One of the things you do when yo log your footage is to name each clip before you capture it.

It sounds like you’ll have to make your own. Just sit down & try to think of all the jobs you’ve done that’ve been held up because the client wasn’t properly prepared. Once you’ve got a draft list, save it as a PDF with your letterhead so that you can email it or print it and hand it to every client when you agree to take a job. Make sure that you also save a copy that you can go back & edit, because you’re clients will always come up with some new way of being unprepared!

Are you viewing the results on an NTSC monitor? You don’t say if you are or not, so I’m guessing that you’re not. FCP is designed to work with an external video monitor, and if you’re not using one, then you’re not seeing the ‘real’ picture. The Canvas window only shows a low-res ‘preview’ and doesn’t show both fields of each frame.
Connect a video monitor, then tell us how it looks. Consult the manual if you need help connecting the monitor, there are diagrams to show you how to connect it using a number of different combinations. And make sure that you connect your speakers to the same source as your monitor!
