Yup, that’s the one. If you need to do a hard reboot (aka shutdown), just hold down the power button till the mac shuts off, then wait maybe 20-40 seconds & turn it back on. you should avoid pulling the plug on any running computer if you have any other option to shut it down.

That’s kind of interesting, and just a tiny bit scary. They certainly have the expertise, and Indian universities are very good.
Remember that the biggest film industry in the world is centered in Mumbai (nee Bombay). BTW, some recent animated film, I want to say ‘Hoodwinked’, was outsourced to both the Philippines & Mumbai. And it’s no secret that lots of TV animation has been done offshore for years now.

You might want to try playing with the motion blur under the motion tab, but you should expect loooong render times. And to re-render if you make changes to the clip.

I feel your pain. I have a client that’s renting his FCP suite out to an ‘up & coming’ (read: fly by night) production company. I work in this suite on a regular basis with beta, both offline & as 8 bit uncompressed (which I online using FCP’s media manager), & for me the suite is rock solid. Yet for these guys, the same suite, working with mini DV, crashes constantly, with disks & files becoming corrupted all the time. It turns out their tapes come out of the camera not only with TC breaks at every shot, but the TC typically jumps forward or back a few minutes at each new shot. And yet, they refuse to learn how to log & batch.

True. I wasn’t thinking about the HD side of it. Still there are PCI & PCIe cards in that price range that will do HD. And, no, they won’t work with a laptop, but I don’t really think that’s worth the extra $$. YMMV, however.

I’m sorry but I think that price is insane. For that kind of money, you’re already into the price range of the Aja Io. I wouldn’t pay more than maybe $400 for one, assuming I didn’t already have a good DV deck.

It’d be nice if they’d give a price. If it’s cheap, it might make an interesting niche product for people who want to preview to a video monitor, but I’m a bit skeptical.

Ah, but you’re missing one of the most important parts of the equation. The reason macs are so popular in the creative world isn’t because they’re nice & shiny, it’s because Mac OS X is so much more stable & less prone to conflicts, viruses & bugs than XP is.
