It would be difficult to key the sky because of the deep black under the eaves of the building. The blacks run into each other, so by the time you finished making your hold-out matte, you may as well have roto-ed out the sky anyway.

I’ve seen the same problem. I use Automator to add a .mov extension to the end of the files and the problem goes away.

You can use Automator to rename the files.

You should be able to do this with either Cinema Tools or Compressor.
Open the file in Cinema Tools and use the “Conform” button to change it to 23.98 or 24.
If you can’t open it in CT, then bring it into Compressor, select the output codec you want, then change the frame rate. In the bottom of the “Frames” tab and check the box for “So source frames play at 23.98fps”.

I’m asking what your end product is. Your needs are very different if you deliver to theatrical release on film or DCP vs TV vs YouTube.
