Are you saying that none of these new files were created? Or that you opened the original file, and it didn’t match the last version you saved (which it should not, because that last version is actually a different file!)

And then there are the butt heads like me who like to use 30i & 60i (or 25i & 50i) interchangeably! 😉 It’s arguable either way. You have a 30 fps timebase, 30 whole pictures per second, but 60 fields per second. So, depending on context, either should be correct.
I’ll climb down off Graeme’s soapbox now, too.

Well, that doesn’t appear to be the most recent deck! 😉
I can’t find it on Sony’s site, the only info I could find was a 4 page PDF on the Broadcast Store’s web site. I didn’t see any mention of insert editing in that pdf.
Do you have the manual that came with the deck? If it does do inserts, you may have to change a menu setting or front panel setting to enable it.

It sounds like you have “Mirror video on the desktop” checked off in the AV settings. Look through the tabs in the AV settings to check, & turn it back on.

That half frame of black has nothing to do with timecode offset. My guess is that your deck isn’t capable of insert editing, or that you may not have the deck in the proper edit mode. Which model deck is it?

Some states, like NY, have subsidized programs for self employed or low income working folk. I’m currently buying insurance from Blue Cross on under the Healthy NY program at about 1/4 or 1/3 of what I would pay otherwise. It’s worth looking into your state’s programs to see what they offer.

If you have an open PCI slot, you could add a USB2 card to your desktop G4.

I found that my transfer speeds increased when I plugged the P2 Store directly into the G5, rather than the keyboard. Through the keyboard, it took 2 or 3 hours to transfer an 8 gig card (we went out on a shoot, so I wasn’t there to time it), through the front port on the mac, it took 15 or 20 minutes.
