Why? From what cameras are you recording? By going MPEG2 via the Tricaster you’re taking a colossal compression hit. If possible, record to tape or shoot directly into your edit system’s capture card.

DVCPro 50 cannot be recorded on miniDV stock. Nor can a miniDV deck record DVCPro 50 (although some DVCPro 50 decks may be able to record DV onto miniDV stock).
If you have an HD capture card, you can probably downconvert in real time as you record out to the DVCPro 50 deck.

You can ‘break’ the tangent handles of a Bezier point so that they move independently of each other. I think you just need to right click on a handle for the option.

Interesting, and for me, timely. I just laid myself off because my employer is several weeks behind in paying me. I flatly refused to work on a presentation for a feature that’s in preproduction that he wants to do the post on. When he complained that I would be working on the film, too, I apologized and stood my ground. After a payment yesterday, he still owes me for 4 weeks.

If you have an express card slot, you can use a Matrox MXO2, an AJA Io Express or a MOTU HDX. All of these have an option to connect to an express card slot, all have component out.

If the animator is not complying with the spec you gave them, either find another animator, or lean on the one you have until they get it right.
