Kona and Decklink cards don’t really add any RT. Some of the cards take scaling and pulldown tasks off the CPU & GPU for some codecs, but that’s it.
Depending on what you’re doing, the best improvement will be from a beefy graphics card and a fast RAID array.

Photoshop Extended, AE, Shake, Motion and Combustion all have painting features that are good for this. CHV has a plugin for FCP. Photoshop’s painting features are probably most powerful, and the Extended version lets you paint in video frames.

$1.00 a month will get you very far in Maine. As long as you can dig your own clams, tend your own lobster pots, shuck your own oysters, grow your own potatoes, make your own maple syrup and skin your own moose. Come to think of it, you can probably train Auggie as a moose hunting dog!

Not necessarily. You would have to look at what terms and conditions are attached to the scan. In effect, the historical society may not own copyright of the photo, but they may be able to control your use of it and access to it.

That’s not a filter. That’s careful preproduction planning and a good compositor.
You need to shoot both angles on set.
If the mirror is covered with greenscreen or bluescreen, you can key it out & add the reverse image back in. If not, you’ll have to rotoscope the mirror & add the reverse image.
And if the cameras aren’t locked off perfectly, you’ll have to stabilize or track one or both images to match them together.

Yup, that is annoying, isn’t it? And I find the separate dialogs when you quit Compressor that ask if you want to save your settings for each tab annoying, too.
If you select multiple sequences in FCP’s browser window and send them all at once, it will put them all in one tab for you.
