P2 is not IMX50. P2 is a Panasonic format. IMX is a Sony format. The two of them don’t share formats outside of mini DV.

You should post your first question on a Pro Tools forum. As for bulbs, you can find vendors at projectorcentral.com. You can also try looking on eBay, but pay very specific attention to a seller’s rating & their return policy before you bid.

Luckily, I have not yet had to file a claim. FU only started offering insurance under it’s own name this year. Previously, they sold plans to freelancers at group rates from established insurers. I’m hoping it’s just teething pains that you’ve heard about.

Has he considered asking the lab? I’m pretty sure they’d tell him if he asks nicely.
BTW, ProRes is not a tape format. IOW, there is no such thing as ProRes tape. It’s only a computer format, same as DNxHD.

What is he remembering? Did they print his dailies and project them from 35mm film? Did he have a video assist monitor on set? Was that monitor properly calibrated? Or is he just remembering that it looked really bright on set with all those lights?
Ultimately, this is an issue of how the material was shot an transfered. If he really has questions, he needs to speak to his DP and the lab. His material may or may not have been 20% brighter. And even if it was, it may have been transfered darker, or the material may not have been transfered to DVD properly.
And if he shot on film and his material really is 20% darker than he thought it was on set, well, that’s not a deal breaker. 35mm motion picture negatives have a lot of latitude, and a good 2K scan and DI session can easily bring back whatever he thinks is missing. Unless it’s really 40% darker… or 60% darker…

You can also do a match-frame/replace edit to update your clip in the timeline.
Make sure that the track with that clip is the target track, hit the “f” key to match-frame, then F11 to replace the shot in the timeline.

Me too. If one HD is getting wonky, that could easily be causing this type of problem. Also, check your cabling. Swap the cables out with other cables that you know work properly. It’s also possible that one drive has a wonky FW port, so try all possible cable/port combinations to see if the problem persists.

I don’t think that these decks play digiBeta tapes.
You can buy a Kona 3 or Io HD, then rent a digiBeta deck and use the Kona or Io to upconvert.

You need to have this discussion with the post house that’s doing the layoff. Having it with anyone else is academic. They probably have their reasons for wanting 10 bit UC, maybe their software isn’t compatible with ProRes.
If they only want 10 bit UC, then give it to them. If you only want to deliver ProRes, then find another shop that will take it. That’s pretty much all there is to it.
