link to clip isn’t dynamic?
When I drop a clip in the timeline…then, for example, change the aspect of the clip in the browser to anamorphic…it doesn’t update in the timeline. Is this the normal functionality of FCP? Is there a way to make clip settings dynamic? This is the only example I can come up with…but it would greatly help me understand how FCP works if this is a possibility via some setting. I searched through the manual but was unable to find anything regarding anything like this.

once the clip is in the timeline you need to make the changes to that clip or make the changes to clip before you place it in a sequence.

You can also do a match-frame/replace edit to update your clip in the timeline.
Make sure that the track with that clip is the target track, hit the “f” key to match-frame, then F11 to replace the shot in the timeline.

OK…I get it, makes sense on how it works. But what is the benefit of this? I can’t figure out one? Why wouldn’t apple design it in a more linear fashion? There has to be some benefit to doing it this way.
Also, why would you ever pull clips from your browser? Why wouldn’t you just edit directly to the timeline via the finder? Why even use the browser and organize your clips by bins if they aren’t directly referenced anymore?
