Keylight is in AFX CS3 Proffesional… this might be the last version it’s bundled with though.

Love your tutorials but is your site down?, I can’t seem to connect to it for a few days?.

  • Howdy,

Never use mp3’s in AE, it doesn’t like them even in CS3. Convert the mp3 to something more manageable like a wma file and use that instead.

    Hi,

In render settings make sure you have under the “Save” section “Compositing Project File” checkbox ticked and After Effects selected from the drop down menu. Also for the 3D data to be saved check the boxes next to “3D” and “Relative”. Make sure you have a path also defined. Now when you click save you can save as a *.aec file which you can load into After Effects with the 3D data intact. I have only myself did this once but it worked flawlessly for me.

Some video tutorials can be found here

ToonIt! does work with CS3 I can confirm. It’s great for giving your video footage that cartoon type effect and comes with a set of filters you can also apply.

    Howdy,

The fps warning is totally normal, AE is just telling you as you are rendering the playback and it is not in real time. The audio problem make sure you right click in a blank area of the comp window and select Preview/Audio. Then hit “0” on your numeric keypad, not your spacebar to render the comp.

    Hi,

I have been using C4D because it has tight integration with AE. You can import camera and 3D information etc straight from C4D into AE with a minimum of fuss. Not only this but C4D is surprisingly easy to learn.

July 1, 2007 at 12:35 pm in reply to: Tracing Light Around Objects

    Hi,

I have tried what you suggested but I still cannot get it to work. I have simply the quaver object on a transparent background. I have used the pen tool to draw around the shape of the quaver to create the mask shape. I have then added CC Light Rays to the object, copied the Mask Shape properties and pasted it into the CC Light Rays “Center” property which gives the roving keyframes. The trouble is the light does not follow the shape of the mask, it appears to follow a “smaller” version of the quaver which doesn’t exist. I am not pasting it to a different layer so I don’t really know why this is happening or what I’m doing wrong. Anymore suggestions or tips would be greatly received.

Also never use mp3 in AE, it does not handle mp3 very well I found that out to my cost on numerous occasions. I use now wma in my projects and it seems to like that much better.
