You could key it out using Keylight then export it (add to render queue) as a quicktime MOV with millions of colors+ (+ meaning alpha channel).

Andrew Kramer’s latest tutorial showed how to achieve this 3D looking effect with still images on his videocopilot.net site but now that is down until Monday so I can’t link it.

Basically its a bunch of still images all made into 3D layers and stacked into z space. Add a camera into the mix to zoom and pan etc.. These photos also look like that have a ramp effect to them and some motion blur etc..

Although I can’t link you to Andrews tutorial (check that out Monday), a pdf with good info can be found here:

Thanx olthof, I will try the advice you gave me and see if it works. Strangely the delays in my projects were excatly of 1 second as well. I did suspect at the time this may happen during the rendering process with certain codecs.

I meant when I RAM previewed in AE the output was in sync with my markers, however when I rendered it out to wmv the delay was present in the finished file.

The stupid thing is when I rendered in AE it was perfect, it’s only when I rendered it out to wmv format that the delay was present.

This reply was also useful to me as your first technique did seem to work for me. However I am peeved that we have to do this in order for the final render to be accurate on the markers created. After all the reason we put markers down in the first place is to be accurate on timing of certain shots or music, it’s kind of ironic that the final output is far from accurate.

You could just create a white solid as a background layer and then drag 3 clips on top of the white solid and scale them down and place them in position. You could place them so there is a slight gap between them creating the illusion of a thick line separating them. Probably are better ways but that’s the way I can see doing it.

It is possible your rendering settings bitrate/quality settings are too low?, have you tried rendering this out as an un-compressed avi to see if that is what it could be?.

    Hi Maltaannon,

I did say weeks ago that I couldn’t access your site and I STILL can’t. I can access your polygon.pl site with no problems but maltaannon.com I haven’t been able to access for at least a month (Winxp Box). I am very frustrated because I loved your tutorials on After Effects. Please let me know when this is resolved because I can’t wait to learn more about After Effects.

    -Regards

    Antoni.
