    Thank you! Actually, another forum told me to press “w” while pressing the media composer icon, and this allowed me to authenticate with avid link. So random… but it worked!

    Hi,

    thanks, I tried that, but it won’t let me drag the image outward, only inward. Which would be OK because I can frame the detail I want to emphasize, but then the image is little and does not fill up the whole screen anymore. What am I doing wrong? I have footage shot on red, so scaling it a bit won’t make it go soft.

    Oh sorry, I wasn’t clear enough – I wasn’t going to use e-mail, but Yousendit, which allows you to send big files. And of course the file does not need to be good quality at 100 MB, just OK enough to watch.

    does any of you have a suggestion what format I should use if I want to cut the material ripped from the DVD on my Final Cut? I want import the material to my FCP in using the best possible quality. What would that be?

    thanks for your reply. I have done the steps you suggested, and the VHS material still looks wrong. I’m still experimenting here.
