    Hi!

I need to reframe an image in Final cut, but have not managed to find the tool for it. I do not wish to make the image smaller, I just need a detail in the image to be seen more clearly, and therefore I need to zoom into the image. The image still needs to fill the screen after I’m done zooming in.

    Thanks!

Switch the Canvas to Image+Wireframe. Grab the corner of the image and drag it out to scale up the image. Be careful though there is only so far you can go on a video clip in scaling it before it starts to go soft and deteriorate.

    All the best,

    Hi,

thanks, I tried that, but it won’t let me drag the image outward, only inward. Which would be OK because I can frame the detail I want to emphasize, but then the image is little and does not fill up the whole screen anymore. What am I doing wrong? I have footage shot on red, so scaling it a bit won’t make it go soft.

    Thank you!

    Annu

It’ll drag. Try setting the canvas to fit all or a smaller size.

hello, I’m trying to reframe my hd footage. only if i try to reframe it the image goes into the black boxes on the top and bottom of the frame.
i then croped the bits off but it’s much work and very inaccurate. looks horrible.
any better easier way to reframe the image (720 x576)???
    thanks so much for help!
