I never had any problems with auto save but the drawback is it overwrites itself after so many saves.
I recommend you do a save a copy just before closing down preferably to another drive and don’t overwrite the old one.

The flickering bar is due to Aero in Windows.
Set it to classic view.
If i am not misstake your ‘avi’ is mpeg4.
To be sure run it through GSpot.

Alas CS3 does not support mp4.
If one is on CS4 the footage can be natively edited in a xdcam ex project.

I assume you are in PAL land.
To much hassle editing ntsc in pal.
So if possible send it back.

You cannot burn a dvd directly from AME. Youve got Encore to do that for you.
