Use a setting that matches the footage.
Either drag the clip into the New Item icon or
make a custum sequence setting.

Use the VLC player instead.
In QT most of the time you have to set the aspect ratio manually.

This clip has been used 4 times.
Selecting one of the them will set the Playhead on the clip in question in the timeline.

I always set dvd encoding to 9, never had any trouble playing the dvd’s.

I find exporting from Premiere giving better results then letting Encore do the job
Export to mpeg2-dvd interlaced VBR2 pass with MRQ on and Use Preview files off.
For graphics you can set the them to Always de-interlace in the Field Options.

What is your sequence setting
What is your export setting
What is the final destination of your footage?

3 hours of video (timeline) will not hold on a regular dvd.
Might want to use a double layer.
Or use some thing like DVD shrink or DVD rebuilder to get it to fit.
Dont use match sequence settings might end up with the wrong codec.
Use a preset or set every manually. Export directly to mpeg2-dvd or use DL.
What is the source footage.
