Canon (pro)consumer avchd camera’s produce mts files.

If the footage is pixalated could be the playback resolution is set to 1/2.

Forgot to mention: when checking to default scale to frame size, in Pro2 one has to reimport all the stills.
Otherwise it wont work.

Under Preferences/General you will find a checkbox: default scale to frame size.

Well if you insist.

When Premiere acts funny open up Premiere by holding Shift+Alt (or whatever that is on a Mac) until the splash screen.
Clean out Media cash in the preferences.

If that wont work, reinstall and use Cleaner Tool.

Premiere Pro lets you import projects from Elements.
So switching to PE would be not such a bad idea after all.

I cannot answer those questions.
I am on a pc with no third party hardware.
However i do use Cineform from time to time, and its great.

There is no support for upscaling with or with out a cuda card.
SD (as in 720×576) will look awfull in HD.
If you want to upscale you need something like Instant HD from Red Giant.
