    Hi guys,

A friend of mine has embarked on his first project and I’ve agreed to help him out with a few effects etc…

Unfortunately he’s editing in Pinnacle Studio 15 and discovering all of its less than helpful features. I though about suggesting he switch to Premiere Elements but it seems neither software can export a project file to Premiere Pro.

His only export option seems to be mpeg2 but we’ll suffer compression issues if I use that. Won’t we?

What’s the best way my friend can complete his edit in the US and send me the AVCHD files he’s using to me in the UK to finish. Do I have to buy Pinnacle??? Or does he have to pay for professional software just to get started. Both options seem extreme.

    Any ideas?

Premiere Pro lets you import projects from Elements.
So switching to PE would be not such a bad idea after all.

I have to second Ann’s recommendation. We have Premiere Elements on a laptop for travel, and light editing on the road. When we get back to our suite, the PE project is easily imported directly into Premiere.

That’s brilliant. Thanks guys. I looked up if PE could export a AAF or EDL. Completely over-looked the possibility that it’s project file to import directly.

This looks really cool. I’ll pass on both suggestions.

    Thanks very much
