CS4 cannot handle H.264 in a mov wrapper, whatever machine its running on.
This flaw was corrected in CS5.
Download this gopro app and convert files to mov with the Cineform codec.
    https://gopro.com/3d-cineform-studio-software-download/
Now they are easy to edit in CS4.

and NEVER NEVER install a codec pack, it messes up the codec used on your machine.
Uninstall will not help get rid of them. A clean windows install will.

Nearly all solutions are listed in this doc below.
Most common solution is to set firewire driver to legacy.

Bit odd HDV split does not work.
Something wrong with the card or the driver?

DPI has no meaning in video.
All that counts is the width and height of the image.

I have a xf100 and mxf files work perfectly on my pc.
So I figure they will also work just fine on a mac.
Providing its powerful enough to handle 50 mbps.

  • Nope. In fact there is no background it is a void and it shows as black.
You can temporarily put a color matte underneath.

An avchd preset will do just fine for CF.
The edititing mode is not that important.
If I drop a CF avi in the New Item icon I get avc-intra.
What is important that the framesize, timebase, fields and PAR are correct.
