since HD is 16:9 i assume NTSC Widescreen is the correct setting, but with this setting the footage looked stretched vertically. When i changed the comp to NTSC DV, i have the proper letter box image of my HD.
So my question is, when i change the HD to SD widescreen, why does it look stretched ?? Aren’t both 16:9 proportion ?? Does this have anything to do with pixel aspect .09 vs 1.21 ???

All my monitoring is done through my Kona3G to a 10 bit broadcast monitor….so no need for a 10 bit capable graphics.

I always thought AE is more picky about ram than processor.

I’ve been testing the Z420 and Z820 with a Quadro 4000 and GTX580. The GTX is as fast or even faster for some tasks. I still don’t understand why so many software developer still recommend the Quadro 4000 when there are much cheaper alternatives that actually performs better.

Been editing away on a Z420 and Z820 for the past couple of days. Both were equipped with one hex core running at 3.2 Ghz with 48 GB ram and a Gtx580, They both performed fine and i did not notice any improvement the Z820 had over the Z420. I guess if one does not need all the expansions the Z420 is a good buy.
I’m aware that the Z420 does not come with dual processors but from past experience, i’ve always found that single processor at higher speed performed almost as well, and in some cases even better, than dual processors at lower speed. The Z420 mentioned above was faster that my 12 cores Z800 @ 2.4 Ghz for some tasks. Anyways, i need to spend a few more days with both machines but i’m very impressed with the Z420 so far.

Thanks for the reply guys.
1-Yes, when i say PC i meant a Windows machine.
2- i will try outputting using a different Codec but i still need to find out a solution to this problem as i need to output in Prores.
3- I’m rending out the composite…i’m basically just dropping the QT file on a new Comp and render out, can’t get any simpler than this.
Just for fun, i tried using the Adobe Media Encoder for 24p to 23.976 conversion using the same file and output codec setting and the quality is basically the same as the one done in AE but with much faster render and NO artifacts. Go figure!!!

it says file format unsupported. These files came from a DCP export using Fraunhofer’s EasyDCP player +.
I do DCP export all the time for broadcast but have always used DPX sequence instead of TIFF. My workflow is:
1- Open DCP in EasyDCP +
2- Export as DPX in 10 or 16 bit with xyz to RGB color space transform
3- Import DPX sequence in AE for downrez to HD
4- Import 5.1 surround in ProTools to make an LtRt
5- Layback all 8 tracks of audio back to the HD file.Anyways, after further research i believe 10 bit TIFF sequence is not supported in AE or PP CS6

Hi Jeremy,
Thanks for the reply.
EasyDCP player + does not support SDI from or AJA or Black Magic. It uses the DVI of the Graphic Cards and apparently it does not use the refresh rate of the card so they actually recommend 60 hz refresh rate setting for 24P DCP playback. I’m out of option as the tearing still persist.
