Can you post it? I kind of wonder if there’s some other issue you’re getting at. People viewing your videos in different resolutions is just something that every filmmaker, videographer, and broadcaster deals with. It’s why people should have their monitors properly calibrated, but there’s nothing you can really do except make the best video you can.

If you’re watching on computers with different resolutions, there’s your issue. You have to adjust the monitor resolution, Vegas isn’t creating the problem if you’re keeping the original video resolution is screen size, so you can’t keep the same video size in different resolutions.

September 28, 2011 at 2:29 pm in reply to: Should I render in progressive scan for video going to HDTV?Thanks, guys. I’ll try it progressive scan. I never did before since I thought most DVDs were interlaced, and if they were playing on a progressive scan tv that the DVD player could play it back progressive scan, but that interlaced was preferred.

Regardless, should I change my render setting to progressive scan?

September 26, 2011 at 9:57 pm in reply to: Multicamera editing with AVCHD footage – how to improve performance…?While we’re on the subject, for a few months I was using Vegas 9 and would do three camera shoots with footage I ran through Cineform and had no issues. Only with Vegas 10 (latest version downloaded) does Vegas tend to crash, though closing and re-opening the project usually fixes it. Someone suggested it was how Vegas deals with Cineforms codecs, though I updated that. Opening Vegas without any project and then loading it seems to help.
Also, multicam editing avi footage converted from AVCHD makes Vegas somewhat unresponsive. It seems to chug along when I do a lot of starting and stopping, which I tend to do when cutting multicam footage and going back over it to see that it all flows the way I want it to. It’ll take a second or three to pause, which makes it pause later than I wanted. The whole thing’s a little annoying and only started with Vegas 10. I’ll be upgrading to 11 when it comes out, hopefully that fixes it.

I have a computer that’s very fast and with any effects like fades or dissolves on AVCHD footage my preview would stutter. What you should do is get Cineform Neoscene, which you run your footage through and it turns it into much more manageable AVI files. It’s very simple to use and is $130, only $100 if you find the Creative Cow discount code, which you can search for.

Edit: Ok, I realized posting in a thread doesn’t bump it back to the top of the page.

You’d have to install them on the new computer. Transferring the programs won’t work.

September 22, 2011 at 7:50 pm in reply to: Vegas 10e crashes constantly moments after opening project avi.dll errorInteresting. I’m glad I waited to get Vegas 10 until now, because I have three cameras that shoot to AVCHD, which I convert to AVI using Cineform. I just updated Cineform to version 5.5.4. For now the crashes have stopped, but I’ll be using the updated version in the future. And I’ll be upgrading to 11 when that comes out, so I hope that doesn’t get screwed up.
Edit: Still crashing. I’ll restart my computer. On other projects this doesn’t happen nearly as often.

Thanks, Roger. I wasn’t aware of freepd, but I’ll be going through a lot of their library.
