For anyone who was interested, I tested out the six film looks but didn’t find any for me. Try them out for yourself, but they are all fairly heavily processed looks, whereas I prefer something more subtle that doesn’t stand out much, like the look of a Sidney Lumet movie.

But I never know when I’d need one of these, so I’ll keep it in my toolbar.

Where is the footage going? For DVD, or especially Youtube, I would think you wouldn’t notice much difference. Youtube compresses things so much, and DVD plays things in 720×480. On Vimeo or Blu Ray I would think you might notice a difference, but as long as the bit rate’s high I’m sure it would look pretty close to what you originally got. I’m not very knowledgeable on how much of a difference compressing vs. shooting in a lower resolution makes, but I’m going by my general experience with the same issues and since I shoot in 1920×1080 but always have to compress for Youtube or DVD.

I see. Thanks, guys. I’m going to look into all this stuff. I still have Vegas on my E drive and am lazy about reinstalling that again, but I definitely need a larger C drive.

Microsoft Office, ESET antivirus, Windows Media Player, Roxio, Adobe Acrobat, a few messenger programs like Windows Messenger, and a few other programs related directly to those and all the Microsoft Office Suite, but nowhere near the 240 GB or so that is taking up my C drive that I can tell. Most of these are no more than 50 MB.

I’m not sure if I ever changed those temp folders before for Vegas, but when I reinstalled it on my E drive I did. I know the explanation for putting Vegas on the same hard drive as your OS and then putting video files on a separate hard drive, but I figure I’m basically doing the same thing if I keep my video files on yet more separate hard drives as I do now.

Oh, and before I did have DVD Architect and Cyberlink’s Blu Ray burner on my C drive, which I’m going to install on the E drive.

Eh, I might just install it back on the C drive. It’s just been inexplicably filling up to the point where it’s gone from having around 10 GB of free space for a few months to about 7.8 GB in the last few days. I know something is doing it, whether it’s the anti-virus or system restore, so I wanted to free up some space because I can’t find where on the C drive all this hard drive space is being taken.

I might try that, but I need to know what to change when I install it this time to direct it to the plugins in a new folder. It automatically puts them on the smaller C drive even though I set it to install on the larger E drive.

Edit: I guess what’s getting me is, there should be some way to just tell Vegas where the plugins are now, shouldn’t there? For now I’ll put it back in the original location on the C drive, but let me know if there’s a way to put it back on the E drive and redirect Vegas to it. Thanks.

I deal with this a lot, and in an interview setting I recommend a $25 Audio Technica lavalier microphone. They have pretty long cables. Buy a few of them and get extra batteries. I don’t know how long those tiny batteries last on them, but you can find packs of them cheap.
