    Hi guys,

I’m going to render a bunch of DVDs that a client will sell and know that some will end up playing on high definition tv’s. I rendered one and had a chance to play it on an HD DVD player and an HDTV, and it didn’t look good, though it looked fine on my CRT. The DVD player is doing some kind of interpolating because the motion was fine part of the time, but other times became overly smooth and it looked like it must have been playing at 30 fps using the two interlaced fields that I rendered for the DVD. It was an odd feeling of watching slow motion in real time and just looked bad.

Should I be rendering DVDs differently? Was that just an issue with an improperly set DVD player? It definitely wasn’t a problem on my CRT and standard DVD player with the same disc.

Bump in case anyone missed this.

Edit: Ok, I realized posting in a thread doesn’t bump it back to the top of the page.
