I might make for some glow, possibly soft focus, and maybe use color curves to slightly bring down the highlights that her sweat causes.

I was going to guess about the refresh rate as well on the music.

But you should upgrade. You can get the Movie Studio version of the latest Vegas release for $80 or so.

You wouldn’t want a Mac to run Vegas, since it’s impossible unless you dual boot it with Windows, and there’s no reason for that, or spending the money for a Mac, or using its awkward operating system.

I got an HP that works surprisingly well with Vegas. It was $1000, I think refurbished.

NewBlue titler may be able to do it, but Boris Red’s title software can probably do all that.

I mean just try it for a minute, you’ll see the progress bar. If it barely cracks 2% after a minute, you can estimate how long it will take.

Try it out and see how much progress it makes, you can always close it. But it could take a few minutes or more. I’ve nested projects with a handful of video tracks, effects, and audio, but the videos were probably no more than five minutes, and I don’t think it took longer than that to render them in Vegas.

I don’t think there’s any reason why nesting wouldn’t work. It may take a while to load the nested project initially when you put it on your timeline since Vegas basically has to render the whole thing into the project, but once that’s done you can treat it like any other video and audio event. You could have 100 video tracks and it wouldn’t make a difference because it’s all one track when nested.

  • And now it’s running more slowly again.

  • Aren’t these presets just using Vegas color grading plugins, though? I think I have some VASST Celluloid film looks, and all it really does is save you a little time (if you prefer the looks it gives) by adjusting the dials on Vegas’ color grading plugins. And of course, having those presets dialed in for me never quite give me the look I’m going for, but I suppose I never quite want to emulate a film look, at least not using Vegas’ own plugins.

  • I get film looks by shooting on a good camera with good lenses, three dimensional lighting, establishing rules for how the camera moves and how cuts go together, and good talent.
