I’m pretty sure everything in this video is achievable in Vegas, though it may be easier to do with special effects software for a few effects. There’s no obvious way to tell just from watching that video what software was used to edit it, though. Just ask the guy who made it.

Thanks, John. I’ll consider that strongly.

No, but I wonder if there’s a way to do a trial run of that without actually buying it. I think my monitor may just be deficient in displaying blacks. How else do you explain blacks shining like they’re a photo negative, like an invert plugin has been used on them? I guess I’ll need it anyways and may as well try it out on this monitor.

I think I’d definitely stick with Vegas, at least for the foreseeable future. But if I had the money laying around, I’d get a Mac and FCP X just to be able to learn a different editing software, get experience with it and see where it improves on Vegas, and to be able to make myself desirable to more employers.

Actually, I once emailed them asking if they’d provide more Vegas support for their products, and they said they don’t because not many Vegas users buy them. Sounds typical, I guess.

Great project idea. I don’t have any answers, but I’m guessing you would want to look at how other computer programs that are made to be accessible by people with disabilities operate and take cues from that.

I downloaded the free version. It appears to prompt you to buy the paid version and includes a trial of it. I’ll try it out, but I think I’m going to get rid of it, too.

It unfortunately is, though they have several of their plugins free. Here’s the pricing list.

Wow. I had no idea, since all I’ve heard is people complain about FCP X being stripped down.

Um, it sounds like you’re saying it makes sense to just switch to FCP X. Is that what you’re saying? If I had the money I’d get that and start learning it while still using Vegas. It would certainly make me more desirable for employers.

[John Rofrano] ” [Angelo Mike] “I’ve been encouraging a friend to switch from FCP to Vegas for a while, and he almost seems ready to do it, having been fed up with Apple’s changes and being limited to using FCP 7.”

If he doesn’t like FCP X he won’t like Vegas Pro either. I love FCP X because it’s a lot like Vegas Pro. In fact, I’m sure the FCP X programmers copied a lot of features from Vegas Pro. The two programs are very similar and I learned FCP X very quickly coming from Vegas Pro.

[Angelo Mike] “But he would have to get a Windows computer as it stands.”

No he doesn’t. All he would need to do is either run Bootcamp on his existing Mac or run Vegas Pro in a Windows virtual machine with VMware Fusion or Parallels. Personally, He’d be better off just learning FCP X unless it’s lacking some feature that Vegas Pro has that he needs.”

He doesn’t like FCP X, but isn’t Vegas more functional than it? And doesn’t it offer more features?
