https://www.partnersinrhyme.com/ isn’t a bad site to browse. It’s hit and miss as they have a mix of older and newer stuff but their scores have personality and energy.

White letters, luma silloutte/stencil blend mode on the letter layers (you might have to precomp each letter/video combo) and then parent the video to the letter so they move together.

I’m not quite sure why you want 3D letters — If they’re punched out and playing video, what shading/lighting cues would you have if they were 3D? Unless you were planning on keeping the side walls solid.

First thought is parent the particle to a secondary (inactive) camera. Why? Cameras have Point of Interest controls, basically allowing you to aim.

I haven’t tried it personally, but seems like a reasonable suggestion.

Along with what Walter covered, turn off or reduce gravity. I’d assume you’d want the smoke to linger/fade rather than settle to the floor.

None that I know of. I use a double check using Audio Leak on Mac https://www.channld.com/audioleak/ and also by sending audio through Adobe Audition and EQing it with an A-Weighted FFT filter and looking at the mean power reading over time.

If it’s preview clips for the client, I would suggest just h.264 in the MOV container. Small, cross platform and quickly provided.

If you’re using ProRes, I assume you’re bringing it through the entire pipeline as an intermediate. If your clients are savvy or are taking over the post process at some point then it’s a safe choice as it’s highly supported across video programs both editing and finishing — well, Windows is decode only.

Todd is just being Todd: straight up gangsta.

Depending on the clothing, riffing off Todd’s suggestion, you can hide a rope climbing harness under the clothes. Probably far more comfortable and secure.

Open your preferences and under OpenGL there should be some kind of “Advanced” button which allows you to set how much graphics ram After Effects sets, make sure this is less than the amount of graphics ram your system allocates (I assume you’re using ATI/integrated graphics).

Alternately, just make sure your ATI drives are up to date and AE is up to date as a starting point.

Speedgrade will probably be included immediately as a stand-alone application. Adobe also demoed something called Prelude which looks like it’s the Lightroom of video (basic adjustments, metadata logging, etc… onLocation killer?)

Those are my only two solid guesses unless they include some of the really early tech demos like Rubba Dub (auto matching ADR audio).
