Any rumors about 6.0?
Posted by Ron Pestes on February 7, 2012 at 6:50 pmHas anyone heard any reliable information on what to expect in PP 6.0? Getting close to NAB and hoping for some word soon.

February 7, 2012 at 9:27 pmSpeedgrade will probably be included immediately as a stand-alone application. Adobe also demoed something called Prelude which looks like it’s the Lightroom of video (basic adjustments, metadata logging, etc… onLocation killer?)
Those are my only two solid guesses unless they include some of the really early tech demos like Rubba Dub (auto matching ADR audio).

February 8, 2012 at 5:56 amRather than wasting time on rumors, you could wait until NAB.
Just a thought.

February 8, 2012 at 7:42 amWoah, Todd. Your users *like* the product. They like to talk about it. We like to talk about what the program we sit in front of for 8 hours a day might look like in 6 months. Sort of like I like to think about what “The Dark Knight Rises” will be like or my vacation this summer might have in store. This is valuable buzz for you guys. Don’t be such a killjoy, man.
You just gave me a totally bad taste for the Adobe brand, dude. The big middle finger. Now I know how much you guys appreciate us.

February 8, 2012 at 3:29 pmSorry. I didn’t mean to come off that way. I just see a lot of people spinning into misinformation when talking about rumors.

February 8, 2012 at 9:14 pm**I heard** that PPro 6.0 is going to have auto-focus correction detection…. so when any out-of-focus or soft-focus shots are being ingested, the system recomputes the bokeh and collimates the vectors so that any uncorrected pixel shift is redirected into an aligned state, thus producing perfect focus and framing.
Or, as Todd suggests, wait for NAB. 😀

Come on, can we give Todd a break here? I don’t think “wait till NAB” is exactly over the line… but giving Adobe the middle finger because something ‘could’ be construed as slightly snarky… not exactly brimming with class IMO.
Personally, I love the fact that real Adobe employees take the time to answer questions on forums that doesn’t belong to Adobe… not exactly industry practice, but very appreciated… or at least it should be.

February 9, 2012 at 1:58 pmI’ve heard that there are going to new features and bug fixes. Anything more you need to know?
Give Todd a break! He’s not the CEO of Adobe, and part of his job is most likely working under a non-disclosure agreement. Take a look at the Final Cut Pro: The Debate forum to see what it would be like here if, due to lack of input from a certain software company, insult and innuendo started flying. I’d rather get a polite “can’t talk about it right now” straight from the horse’s mouth than months of guessing and finger pointing, with total silence from the software company.
That said, I’d love to know what’s coming, but alienating the messenger sure ain’t going to help get anything sooner – it just shows a coarsness and lack of class better left in the political arena.
