Why would he be the target audience? There weren’t any edits in his video. He doesn’t even need an NLE. He probably just posts directly to you tube from his phone.

Why don’t you synchronize the first video clip with the long audio clip? That will create a compound clip that you can then just open up and append the 4 other video clips to. If the video clips were broken up by the camera due to a time limit, then they should slide right in there in sync.

If you are filming in real time and then speeding it up, frames HAVE to be dropped.

Frames per second is a constant in your video project. If you want to fit 100 frames inside 1 sec of a 30fps project, then 70 frames are going to need to be dropped. Every NLE works this way.

PS: I wouldn’t call shooting in real time, “saving time” because it won’t. Your original file is going to be extremely large compared to what you finally use. The best way to shoot timelapse is to use a camera that can shoot a single frame on a set timer if possible. One frame every second or minute or whatever. Then you have an already sped up clip that you can further speed up or leave as is in post.

You can also open the clip in Timeline mode which will allow you to edit the individual audio tracks while keeping your keyframes in the main project intact.

[Craig Seeman] “Birds might work. Owl to Eagle and a lot in between.”

I smell another Mac inspired Angry Birds app…

[Ewan Lim] “Lynx and cougar isn’t higher up than a Lion. Mountain lion like Craig stated?”

Well, technically, Tiger is higher up on the hierarchy than either Leopard or Snow Leopard. I don’t know if there was a conscious decision to edge upwards in the echelon of cats, but my guess is that next OS will be a completely different naming structure. Lynx looks/sounds like Linux, and Cougar has it’s own connotations that I’m not sure Apple wants to associate with their OS.

Anything that causes a layer to rasterize will effectively flatten you 3D layer into a 2D layer. You can add blur to the particle that the emitter is using; all the particles in the emitter will get blurred then.

Was the audio where you placed the markers a connected clip or was it in the primary storyline. Shortcuts tend to default to the primary storyline when something else isn’t selected so if the blade tool is deselecting the audio after a cut, that might be the solution. Or else have gap in the primary storyline and place the markers there.

I’ve also taken to using adjustment layers to apply a single effect over multiple clips as opposed to copy/pasting effects because copy/paste in FCPX is so limited. This way, I only have to delete the adjustment layer to remove the effects. Kinda an Avid way of working.

You need to make sure your emitter is set to global 3D. By default it is set to local 3D which doesn’t provide true 3D interaction with other 3D layers.
