Here’s what I know. It’s not everything, but I have a call out to the photog to find out the shoot specifics (I was brought in later after things were shot and digitized).
I know the camera was the HVX-200, and although not confirmed, it looks like all the footage was shot in standard 29.97 (it doesn’t appear 24p or pa).
It was all digitized into Final Cut Pro 6.02 with the DV/NTSC codec at 29.97. The clips were exported to AE 6.5 using the Quicktime Export (self contained).
In AE, I dragged the clip on to the make comp button to create a sequence based on the settings of the clip. When I look at the comp settings here’s what I have:
Preset: Custom
720×480
Pixel Aspect: non square (0.91:1)
Frame Rate: 29.97
Resolution: Full
What’s interesting to me is that in FCP, my sequence is set to standard NTSC CCIR-601 DV pixel aspect ratio, but in AE it’s a custom aspect. Could this be the issue?
