I think you’re a victim of the autosave function. Obviously, you know now not to duplicate the currentversion.fcpevent, but when you opened that file, it opened the actual current version of your event. The error of having two versions of that file probably caused the keywords to go missing, but since it opened if FCPX, that state was saved to the currentversion.fcpevent. Closing and restarting only returns you to that same place.
If you have Time Machine, you might be able to find a version of the event before you messed with it. If not, I don’t know that there’s anything you can do.
You can (and should) certainly try trashing preferences, as it does no real harm to do so, but I wouldn’t expect it to work.
In the future, I would suggest either using the duplicate Event function in the program, or else duplicating the entire event folder and changing the folder name. I see that “currentversion.fcpevent” file as a sort of preference, not like the project files that we’re used to dealing with FCP 7.

OIC. Collapsed clips. Not exactly the same thing, though I see your point. Might be difficult to do in X because of the fact that you can combine video and audio, and storylines and other compound clips into a compound clip. Perhaps something where it expands in chicklet mode allowing for simple clip rearrangement and trimming, but detailed operations like audio keyframing and such would need to be opened in Timeline Mode for that.
Or maybe Opening a clip in Timeline Mode can show the rest of the project in a similar mode since adjusting a compound clip would take precedence.

Gawd, that sounds depressing. I do enough work at work. Sometimes I just need to unplug from the Machine. It’s bad enough that clients and bosses expect me to answer their emails on the weekend…editing while waiting in line at the ATM or whatever might make my head explode.

Why not just use a compound clip instead of a secondary storyline? Compound clips can contain internal transitions and they maintain their blend mode where storylines do not.

If you’re animating it in Motion, you can apply motion blur to it in the project settings. The higher the samples, the higher the quality (at the expense of more render time). The highter the shutter angle, the more blur. The default shutter angle of 360 is usually way too high. I start with about 90 angle, and 16 samples and adjust from there.
BTW, these settings apply to motion blur in AE which can be accessed through the comp settings.

What specifically are you trying to do? Motion 5 has motion blur, but it’s not a filter, it’s part of the interface.

There is actually a parameter behavior in Motion called, “Wiggle”. It can be applied to other parameters such as XYZ position, Scale, etc.

Hide rejected is the default view in the Event Browser. I agree that it can be particularly useful for workflows that use large clips.
But I’m confused how it messes with favorite clips. Could you elaborate?

I fail to see how it’s a sign of anything really. Certainly not the death of Final Cut Pro since Final Cut Pro X exists. And the first sign of death for Final Cut Pro 7 was the introduction of Final Cut Pro X a few months back.
