Something I’ve used in After Effects quite a bit is the ‘wiggle’ expression. You can tie it in to a slider control and keyframe the amount of wiggle. It can really add some energy to motion graphics or some visceral realism to a shot that shows some kind of physical impact. Is is possible to cook up something like this in Motion for use in FCPX?

Are you talking about something like the “earthquake” effect in FCPX? If not; the answer are probably “yes”. It’s more than lightly possible to “do that” in Motion.

Stan, that’s perfect! I searched on “wiggle” and “shake”, but came up empty. “Earthquake” was what I needed. Thanks!

There is actually a parameter behavior in Motion called, “Wiggle”. It can be applied to other parameters such as XYZ position, Scale, etc.

Here’s a video to show you how to add the Wiggle function (after effects) to FCPx from motion.
