Position animation by keyframes defaults to a Ease IN/OUT interpolation called bezier. You can adjust the handles if you want the eases to be more pronounced.
In answer to your question though, the Move behavior will do what you want and it contains an EASE IN/OUT parameter.

October 5, 2011 at 3:00 pm in reply to: Identifying the motion effects used in an existing video? The choreography was definitely built AFTER the effects were built. Particle emitters or replicators. Plenty of simulation behaviors including random motion and attracted to behaviors.
LOTS of time.

Tom, I looked into what you mentioned and you’re right, it IS grayed out occasionally. It feels like a bug. Here’s what you can do though.
Option 1:
Select a keyword collection if you have one. If no clip is selected, but the Event Library is active as opposed to the Event Browser, compound clip is available.
Option 2:
Select any clip in your event browser and then click in an empty space or CMD click the same clip to deselect everything. Then compound clip should be available.

If you forget the shortcut, you can always click on the background process button (the circle to the left of the TC window). You should be able to resume in there.

If you have Motion 5:
Build the disclaimers in Motion as a Title Effect. Save into FCPX and create a Theme based around your client (in the Save As dialogue). Disclaimers will appear in the Themes browser in FCPX; apply as necessary.
If you DON’T have Motion 5:
Create an empty compound clip in the Event browser. Copy/paste the disclaimers into the compound clip. Titles now live inside a compound clip in the event.

[Simon Ubsdell] “I think as human beings we fundamentally like tactile response from our environment and our tools”
That’s why the iPad 10 will have technology that uses electomagnetic force to mimic buttons and ridges, effectively tricking our sense of touch on a flat surface.
….patent pending. 🙂

It’s bothersome indeed. One thing that might make replacing clips easier in large sequences is to make sure to create and assign a GFX role to your gfx. That way, if you have to import a 2nd version and replace, you can find the gfx much easier.

[Eben Abbaan] ” There is no easy way to back this stuff up with (for instance) a simple drag and drop operation without including all those damn render files.”
I’m not sure I understand. Why don’t you just duplicate the project inside the application and uncheck the “Include Render Files” checkbox if you don’t want to back up the render files?

On the downside, the update has broken a few custom Effects I built in Motion.
• OSC controls no longer publish-able from deactivated layers in Motion.
• Link between OSC control and position property on one effect broken
• Keyframing broken on another effect.
I guess this is the unintended consequence of making Motion into an effect builder for FCPX, it’s turned all of us into plug-in developers who have to release dot fixes for our own custom effects.

September 29, 2011 at 3:40 pm in reply to: What’s the best way to always have my audio be dual mono?I don’t think you can default to this when importing, but you CAN select all your clips once they’re in, and change them at the same time.
