Assuming there is no duplication of source timecode then as a reasonably simple workaround you could arrange the source clips in selects sequences in such a way that the source timecodes exactly match up with selects sequence’s timecode … in that way you could navigate your selects reel in the manner you’re looking for.

You can do this pretty easily by creating and using Multiclip Sequences as your selects sources (bulk select the sources clips and then choose Modify menu > Make Multiclip Sequence.. the resulting sequence is the selects sequence and should contain all the source clips laid out as described above. I’ve never tried this with wildly disparate timecodes and there may be a limit that I’m not aware of, but in theory it should work fine.

if you look back up the thread Louis, you’l see a link to a freeware helper app called MediaInfo Mac … if you go ahead and download it as instructed then you should be able to analyze the file very quickly and easily. Post back with the text of the report and I’m sure someone will be able to help.

But to clarify, when you say “I am able to view the videos fine within the clip browser of XDCam Transfer” did you mean that you were able to view the in the clip browser in the camera/deck?

In the XDCAM Transfer > Prefernces window >> Cache tab, do you have the “Automatically fetch proxies” option enabled?

Did you get a chance to install the updates yet?

Aha! What do you mean by “launch the Actual Transfer program”? XDCAM Transfer is the actual transfer program … you select your clip(s) in XDCAM Transfer’s clip browser pane, optionally log specific portions ie subclip, and then press the Import button … the clips are then rewrapped and moved to the target Import directory and optionally imported from there into your FCP project. Is that not how you’re currently doing it?

Are you seeing these errors only on existing footage or also on new footage … The “No preview available” and “No Media” suggests you may have inadvertently flushed XDCAM Transfer’s proxy cache (or maybe its corrupted) … have you moved the Cache location recently, performed any upgrades, swapped out harddrives etc ?

As a side note, you might want to consider upgrading your XDCAM Transfer app … the latest version is 2.10.0 and it brings some nice improvements over 2.5.1

You might want to push your FCP version up to 6.1.4 too

How full is that RAID, Ron? And can you double check / list for us the full details of your sequence settings … might be something in there you’ve missed or that will ring a bell for someone else.
