    Hi Louanson

I think you’ll need to give some more detail in order to get help on this.

Are these glitches on both computer and external monitor, or one or the other?
What are your sequence settings and what are your clip settings?
Also, what version of the DeckLink drivers are you running?

Is there any chance you could post a example of the glitches you’re seeing?

    Cheers

    interesting stuff!

regarding Color Finesse for use in FCP, what kind of render times were you looking at HD/SD (as compared to stacking up the CC3-way, Levels, Broadcast safe etc) .. similarly, with the prospect of adding of a hardware control surface (JL Cooper Colorociter CS-1 based on MCS Spectrum) to version 2, do you think that would change your opinion at all?

i’m thinking about mid to low end color correction, basically just making the most of the shots we’ve got, rather than creative grading and coloring … but a lot of it (about 8 man-hours per day). It seems that a single powerful color grading plugin that replaces using multiple combos of other built-in filters might be a good thing – and a real productivity booster, especially with a dedicated control surface to bypass the UI. of course that doesn’t come cheap, $4500 for plugin + Colorociter, or $5500 for standalone + Colorociter.

with the other obvious option being Final Touch HD + MCS Spectrum at $8000 … what are your thoughts regarding standlaone versus FCP plugin

    thanks in advance
    Andy

September 24, 2005 at 3:15 am in reply to: Final Cut 5 bug or am I missing something?

you’re right, you can’t do this in FCP5, although i don’t think it’s a bug as FCP5’s multi track audio capabilities are far more complex than the limited 2 channels we had before.

in FCP5 you should right click the clip and choose “Clip Settings…” to adjust things

    hey mus man

do they display their correct alpha when loaded into the viewer (with “Alpha” selected in the View popup) ?
if so, you might want to check they have the corect field dominance …. FCP can sometimes misinterpret the field dominance of a clip containing an embeded alpha channel, resulting in a clip which seems to lose it’s alpha in the timeline.

    yep,

they won’t both “play” , it’ll be one or the other as you noted … but i think you should be able to scrub.

September 19, 2005 at 9:03 am in reply to: Best RAID Block size?

for video use, larger block sizes should give better performance

you would choose smaller block sizes if, for example, you were using your raid to host a database.

    hey chris

in the browser, select your original 16×9 sequence and check the sequence settings (Cmd-0) … what are the settings?
again in the browser, select the 4:3 sequence that you dropped the 16×9 sequence into, again check the sequence settings … what does this one say?

neither should be set as anamorohic, they should identical except for the different frame size.

if that seems to be the case, then quit, trash prefs and restart … see if that helps

    cheers

souns like you have the settings as 4:3 anamorphic … uncheck the anamorphic setting and you should be good to go

… i just tried and I could use hebrew characters with no problem
just opened the character palette and used the insert button to add the characters to my text generator
alternatively you could enable Hebrew in the Input Menu tab of your System Preferences > International pane
