fwiw QT Player doesn’t read the exported movie’s dual mono status anyway … so your movie will still play back as full mix after you’ve exported it (although it will be correctly interpreted if you reimport to fcp)
if you paln on playing the movie back and want to have discreet audio you have to set your sequence settings to stereo and use the pan controls to provie the separation. (tracks assigned to ch1 you should pan left, tracks assigned to ch2 you should pan right) -

try trashing your preferences ..FCP Rescue from fcprescue.andersholck.com makes that easy
then reset you scratch discs in FCP’s system settings and reconnect the media. -
great tool that lets you print markers together with thumbnails is FinalPrint from Digital Heaven https://www.digital-heaven.co.uk/finalprint/ a bit pricey for a one trick pony, but well worth that price if this is a regulat part of your workflow.
alternatively you can use the free readxml from Spherico https://www.spherico.com/filmtools/readXML/index.html it doesn’t have thumbnails, but otherwise takes some beating at that price. -
I second and third everything said! one other usefull bit of kit for working with XDCAM HD is the Matrox MXO, which enables critical monitoring of your HD sequence direct to a qualified LCD display (ACD 23″, Dell 20″/24″ etc) and also provides an HD SDI output or SD SDI downconvert … and not least of all, allows you to output without the length conform process.

Panasonic’s continued aggressive attention to the compresed HD market can only be good for everyone. The recent introduction of the $14,000 HPX500 will surely push Sony a little to accelerate the development their XDCAM format … 2/3rd inch CCD’s an higher bitrates should separate the men from the boys.

well, to be fair, it is the deck that is supposed to fully emulate a tape transport mechanism when in AV/C mode, its not the NLE’s fault if it doesn’t … try switching to OPERATIONAL FUNCTIONS > INTERFACE SELECT > REMOTE I/F > iLINK and connect set the Media100 to use Firewire for device control.
