Nope, my bet is it’s neither missing nor a bad install, you’re just looking in the wrong “Library” folder.
According to the instructions you should be looking in the (public) Library folder found at the root of the hard disc … my bet is you are looking in the (private) Library folder found at the root level of your User folder – but not to worry, you can install it in that Library too, just at a different path – ~/Library/Preferences/Final Cut Pro User Data/Plugins

2) and 3) FCP’s built-in interlace is a bit rubbish … dedicated commercial solutions like Revision Effects’ Fields Kit is going to give you better quality.

2) And you have no trouble exporting the XML … just having trouble when importing it (on the same machine)?
3) And if you break the original project into 2 x 30 minute parts and export each as an XML, then BOTH parts fail on import at exactly 78%?

Bugger. Had been planning on using STP extensively in the near future. You note juggling Matrox drivers, could the I/O box/drivers have been part of the problem at all? They’ve had many issues along the way with the audio drivers on those units (CoreAudio related I think). Did you try without the MXO2 installed at all, and if so, was it any stabler? Thanks for your insight David.

How’s your experience with it been for shorter 30 minute projects? Any guesses/guidelines as to exactly how big a project / number of stems etc before it starts to fall apart?

Don’t waste your time jumping through the Adobe hoops Steve (though its useful to know that the route exists, thanks Dennis) … just follow Jean-Christophe’s instructions. MXF clips conforming to the XDCAM HD specs can be exported directly from FCP using the File > Export > Sony XDCAM option which you get when you install the free XDCAM Transfer (or XDCAM Browser) software linked above … or you can get it here: https://support.sonybiz.ca/esupport

Have you ever used any other NLE’s muticlip functionality David? It sounds like you’re just a bit hung up on FCP’s current methodology is all. Relax a little, you may be pleasantly surprised by the future functionality.
