vp6 is great, vp7 is very much better tho, but still PC only (despite all the promises) … the vp8 codec, overdue for release, is even better still (or so “they” say) but remains PC only

yep, understood Martjin…appologies for skewing your thread. seems your issue is not that the export option is not available, but rather that the export fails when working with any IMX format, correct?

we used to use D1’s and never had any issues, however this was long prior to the FCS2 upgrade. all I can report is that I haven’t witnessed this issue as am working exclusively with XDCAM HD.

i’m with Wayne, check your firmware revision … though that doesn’t explain why this issue would have occured in any way as part of a Final Cut Pro upgrade (as XDCAM Transfer acts standalone)

    hmmm…

bit confused by what you’re describing here …

XDCAM HD is an MPEG2 format
were there some clips coming from an SD XDCAM format, such as IMX (also and MPEG2 format) or DV

if you can more specifically explain the source and target formats of the clips/edit then I think someone will be better able to helpyou with some workflow suggestions

pre blacking a tape only helps avoid timecode breaks when doing an “Insert” edit

when you button on/off on a camera you are doing an “Assemble” edit … timecode will be regenerated from the in point but WILL be broken at the outpoint.

i’m guessing that because you have created a non-native frame size so you are losing full realtime … ie what you are seeing when playing is realtime preview quality only, it needs rendering to get full quality

its not especially scriptable, although you can trigger import and export of XML’s using apple events
    https://developer.apple.com/samplecode/MovieAssembler/index.html

you can also use Apple’s UI scripting to take some control
    https://www.apple.com/applescript/uiscripting/

or you could look at something like xmedit’s Traffic app

i’ve always called something like that a “sting” (with bumpers being the bump in to and bump out from break, as Walter already described)

got a feeling that terminology is not always as standard as you might expect !
