Nope, Constant Frames have been around since at least FCP5. The Constant Frames folder is where still images and generators are cached ( to improve playback performance ).

A quick search would find an almost identical thread from yesterday … Anyhoo,to recap, the MXO2 is not yet shipping. If you are in no hurry to sate this need then you may want to wait it out for and see if it lives up to expectations plus irons out any initial kinks and quirks. If its all good then it sounds ideal for your needs … but time is money eh? As it stands, wouldn’t the MXO(1) complement your existing AJA IO perfectly well, and provide pretty much all of the needs you outline? You originally state “possibly” HDMI but later un the post it seems like that may be the deciding factor? If not, I’d go with the MXO now and upgrade to the MXO2 if and when its good and ready and my needs really start to require it.

Your best approach is to call/contact the operations manager at the TV station and ask them in what format they would prefer delivery. From there you can work backwards to ascertain your best settings.

hmm … will an EDL carry over even the basic motion attributes that you’ve applied, such as distort, scaling and cropping? Assuming thats not a problem, then I think under the circumstances you’ll need to suck it and see, and if necessary combine the options: pre-compose the two clips in a separate sequence, export and reimport and place that in the master. Then when you do your online you’d need EDL’s for both the master sequence and the pre-composed sequence. You’d then manually recombine them in the online.

two options:

1) nest the composite by selecting both track s and pressing Opt-C … then apply the sacle to the nest
2) mixdown the composite by exporting as a new clip and then reimporting to project and replacing those elements in the timelne

Well its far from revolutionary as far as such technologies go, but its certainly a good thing.
If you have a hearty machine then yiu can get a pretty good idea of what to expect by simply turning on Unlimited RT. You’ll get pretty much the same thing in FCP6 it’ll just be automatic and far smoother.
Mixing NTSC and PAL certainly does not live up to the hype. In FCP 6 it sucks big time offering a very very poor conversion. FCP5 was far superior in this regard.

iI would strongly recommend that any true replicatable bugs are reported directly to Apple’s bug tracking system rather than the usual less than endearing “feedback” page … with the feedback page you are reporting into a black hole whereas with the bug tracking program you can solicit updates on the status of your bug.

Guys and girls, I hesitate to add this as I’m sure we are all professionals, but PLEASE don’t abuse this. if you have isolated a true bug that can be replicated under controlled circumstance (ie its not just on your installation and its not a feature request) then this is a very good place to report it to ensure that the engineers will see and act on the report. This isn’t the place to send in a rant!

You will need a basic ADC account (Apple Developer Connection), the free one will do!
Make sure to follow the guidelines on how to format your bug report so that the engineers can isolate the issue.

if you were just trimming out black space, commercials etc you’d be fine …

Capture and playback any line of blanking, using any of the top three lines of your media file. This lets you store test signals, timecode, subtitles and many other custom types of data.

…but laying that graphic throughout is what’s going to kill it. Just a thought, but if you have the hardware you might be able to utilse the Blackmagic’s Live Key application to overlay the graphic on your edit master and so bypass the render in FCP that’ll strip that important data.
