Pete later I will upload the image to my website with a link for you and you can play with it. Just don’t wear it out.

  • It won’t hurt if I delete all of the kgwv files? There is over 1 gig of data and 492 files in there. Is this because of poor housekeeping? If so, how often do I clean this out? There are files in there that were created in 12/04.

  • This is really strange. I can clearly see all the waveform on A1 and A2 but just the Xs on A3 and A4. I just zoomed in on the timeline and I can see the A3 and A4 waveform. But it is so zoomed in I can’t find my self. If I zoom out one time it is gone. Let me try the waveform cache files.

The slides they scanned for me were going to be used in FCP. I just pulled out the CD and loaded it into PS7 and it is a jpg 72 dpi. I then loaded it into FCP and dropped it on the timeline. I went to the Viewer and it says the scale of the image at full screen is 29.7%. I just went to 100% on the scaler and the image is over 3 times its original size and no pixelation. I went to 200 on the scaler and I can see the image quite clearly but the image is softening but no pixelization. The old can of Spam and pack of Marlboros still looks good in my Vietnam transfers. This is zoomed in at over 6 times of the original image. The paper fuzz on the edge of the slide is quite clear as are hairs on the slide.

If my camera would have been better it would have made a difference. But hey it was 1967.

I suggest that you take a slide to Costco and have them scan one and try it. I don’t think you will be a bit disappointed because the slide should be pretty high resolution in the first place.

I don’t think it would be any clearer at 100dpi because the original image or slide is so small to begin with.

Take them to Costco and they will transfer them to a CD for you. Sams may do the same thing. I have done hundreds this way. Check on their website for info.

I think I figured it out. I don’t know why but I had three tiff pictures mixed in with the psd pictures. I don’t know why it makes a difference when the mov file is rendered in Moving Pictures but it did make a difference in mine. I recreated the mov file and I am now copying it back into my Mac. I will know in the morning.

April 25, 2005 at 5:54 pm in reply to: Audio cuts out

I did the mixdown and it was till skipping. The tape is a DV tape and may have a dropout but I didn’t see anything. So I cut the video at the point where the skip started and ended up shortening the video by four frames. I was able to work out the video so it wasn’t noticeable and it sounds perfect now. Thanks for both your help.

    Wonder what causes this?
