Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Audio cuts out

I am adding music and vocals to my timeline and at one point on the timeline it cuts out for about three frames and then resumes when I am playing it on the timeline. It doesn’t matter what type of music it is. It is doing it with Sonic Fire, buyout, and even copyrighted music from a CD. I can shorten it and it will do it everytime at the same point. It plays perfectly from the Viewer. If I move the playhead three frames to the right of the point it plays perfectly. I locked the four tracks I am using and hit delete to see if there was a sliver hidden somewhere and still the same. I created a new sequence and copied each track one at a time and still the same thing happens.

    Ideas?

One other thing. The wave meter shows it is there and the audio meters are showing it is playing at this spot too.

    Andy,
You probably have a little glitch or disturbance in your video. Oftentimes, when this happens, for some reason, you’ll get an image but audio will not play over the firewire at that spot. You’ll get audio if you export to a DVD, but not out to tape. Take another look at your video at that point, and I’ll bet that you’ll find a little disturbance in the picture. Go back and look at your source footage, and if you don’t see it there, recapture. If not, see if you can find a cutaway to replace that piece or eliminate it all together. It’s probably only a few frames of video.

I did the mixdown and it was till skipping. The tape is a DV tape and may have a dropout but I didn’t see anything. So I cut the video at the point where the skip started and ended up shortening the video by four frames. I was able to work out the video so it wasn’t noticeable and it sounds perfect now. Thanks for both your help.

    Wonder what causes this?
