    Waveform shows intermittently

    I am trying to edit some audio using the waveform on the timeline. It appears for a while and then there are just small “X” for about 4-5 seconds and then the waveform shows up and then it disappears for about 5 minutes. The volume of the audio on either track is still there.

    It shows the “X” normally when it is refreshing the waveform but all day….and nothing.

    Also the same audio clip looks fine on my PowerBook G4. The problem is on the G5.

    I would try trashing the waveform cache files. I’ve never done it, but I assume that doing this would force FCP to rebuild the waveforms on your clips.
