You cannot do this (also couldn’t do it on the F5). It’s VF only. It’s also worth noting that when shooting HD, SDI 2 output has the option to output the display. SD1 is a clean feed. There are a few monitor options out there, but I enjoy the Atomos Inferno, which has peaking and peak levels.

I’ve run 128GB systems before. The difference between similarly specced quality RAM brands are negligible. You’ll notice a speed difference on memory-intensive tasks, but it may not be that much of a difference over 64GB RAM for many tasks. I’d also not underestimate storage. If you are working with 4K footage, 8TB is nothing… especially if you configure for backup/redundancy.

Safari browser used to have an extension that could do it, but it’s been blocked lately. I usually just use SnagIt to screen capture a clip, since I often just need a piece of a YT video or some audio for storyboarding purposes and not a really long segment.

If you notice any audio hiccups doing this, you can always bring your soundtrack into Audition and retime and maintain pitch to arguably better results.

  • While you don’t want to get too involved with audio in AE versus other programs more tailored for audio, if you’re only adding a song to your project you could stay in AE and then just export using AME to a .mp4 of suitable quality for FB. AE allows you to see the waveform if you need to edit to the beat or make calculated fades. If you have more complex audio needs, that is a different story.

If you’re talking specifically about film festivals, I’m sure they have a specific projection/screening system and 1080 HD is very common and most people can present content that way. Or, perhaps they will do 4K. But, always good to have a 1080 HD version on you just in case. Some small festivals may just loop a playlist from Vimeo or YouTube, and again I’m sure to keep things the same with a common format.

  • Lots of pros use the Lumetri panel in Premiere and I find it good enough to not keep Resolve in my workflow anymore. There are a hefty amount of tutorials from people like Richard Harrington and Abba Shapiro that can help with some of your questions, so I’d advise you check them out instead of have me do subpar explanations. Also, I’d be more interested in how your RGB Parade look in the current version of Premiere versus a current version of another editing software, not so much about how it looked against a version 3 years ago. Is there a difference there? A lot of upgrades have happened to Lumetri over the years.

you can also always open videos in quicktime and use the Get Info feature to find the video codec, frame rate, frame size, and bitrate

If you ever get a chance to take a class with Chris Converse, he does some really cool stuff like this and also dynamic response animations controlled with css

Your file size will not reduce because your data (bit) rate is the same. Bitrate affects file size the most. Frame rate can affect file size. Frame size or resolution does not really affect file size, but can provide better quality. For example, you have less pixels to compress in a smaller frame size, so it would have better quality at an equal bitrate to a larger frame size.
