Try to check your Energy settings in System Prefs. There is a box on the top you can uncheck to make sure the iMac uses “high performance” graphics card.

What is the extra audio you need besides tracks 1 & 2 once you nest the multi cam? Is it extra dialogue, music or hats? You could choose the extra tracks you need from the sync’d audio time line (the one you razor’d and moved up to 1 & 2) and paste them into the nested multi cam timeline below tracks 1 & 2.

Are you running all the same versions of software? CS6 all around and not CC on some aps? If PPRo is CS6 and you are trying to dynamic link to After Effects CC, it will be greyed out as Dynamic link is not the same. If you are running same version for both, not sure what it could be then.

    Hi Pat,

I’m using it more and more now that we are switching over from FCP to CS6. I’ve only scratched the surface of it and found the things I need the most, Noise canceling, mastering VO’s and cleaning up interviews. The round tripping of sequences in an out of Premiere is seamless. Once you’ve cleaned up your audio in Audition, you can mix down to a single file or keep full length stems of your sequence audio. I’m working on a 3 camera multi-cam show for air on friday and have had to round trip multiple versions of a sequence and no major issues. The hour long show has 7 segments and I can bounce in and out of Audition, apply my filters and bounce right back. There is some building and XMLing going on in the background so if you need to change something, just re-send your sequence and rename the file if you don’t want to over write previous work. I have had an occasional crash, but it seems pretty rock solid. You can ad VST 3rd party filters if you use them in your other applications. The new CC version comes with loudness radar for broadcast spec, so it will be helpful when and if we move to CC in the future. Overall I like what it has to offer and will be using it in all my upcoming broadcast shows to clean up and improve audio going forward.

We’d like to keep it in a full sequence so you can control all the elements. Rendering or transcoding it out to another codec “flattened” defeats the purpose of having access to all audio, video layers etc. If you get a chance, please test and post back. I’m on CC only on my personal laptop and have not had a chance to do any further testing. My work bays have not made the upgrade due to this issue. So unless Adobe updates CC to improve project managing to deal with Long GOP media properly, we will be staying put and looking at other software that can deliver what we need on a weekly basis.

Prelude is not an option at the moment. The one show that has the biggest problem is a weekly one and they media manage their evergreen show elements after the show has aired. This allows us to return to previous elements quickly when doing historical look backs or even end of year review shows. The shows is compiled from a couple bays, so importing the used features and elements into a final sequence is what gets media managed. As we are getting footage of all sorts during the week, taking the time to flip or transcode to another codec upfront defeats the purpose of Premiere “working with any codec” for speed. Having to media manage the entire final sequence also defeats the purpose of saving on drives and LTO for space. What used to be a 35-50gig media manage is now upwards of 350-450gigs. Doing this on a weekly show is definitely an expense we didn’t think would be a problem with premiere when it says it can handle every codec on the way in. How about handling every codec on the way out as well.

Hopefully you’ll get an answer back on this option. It would be really helpful in transcoding our final show to a codec that will actually media manage and not fail. Currently in CS 6 our “trimmed media manages” are failing due to Premiere’s inability to handle Long GOP file structures properly. Transcoding to DVCPROHD or some other format would allow trimmed media managing to actually work.

You want to look for “Nudge” in your CC Keyboard shortcuts.

Jump over to the Sony HD Deck forum and ask there. I think you have to choose AES audio vs HDSDI, but I don’t use that deck enough to know the correct settings for 16 channels.
