Nothing new for now. It is hit or miss with “trimming” the project when XDCAM is present. Most of the time you need to just “Copy All” and live with all the extra Gigs associated with your project for media management to work.

There are issues with playback, exporting etc. with New Mac Pros using 10.9.3 and Adobe Products. New OS update is coming, but if you can roll back to 10.9.2, then test your new monitor to see if you have the same issue. Some people are having luck with turning off Open CL when rendering in Premiere, but not always a sure fire answer. I’ve had 10.9.3 complete mess up our new Mac Pro and had to roll it back to 10.9.2 just to get playback in Premiere to work again. Roll back if you can or you’ll be stuck waiting for 10.9.4 to be released which supportively fixes the playback issues.

Go to the Wrench icon in your Source window. Select edit cameras and deselect the other 14 cameras that might be checked.

If you’ve got some more details on what is crashing, codecs, software versions etc, I can go over some of your issues here or offline. (aedigitaltv@mac.com) I can also put you in touch with our Adobe rep who has been great at getting issues addressed. We’ve got a pretty big install of bays across the country so I’ve seen a bunch of issues and some fixes just depend on your set up. Are your editors just on external hard drives or hooked up to a large NAS / SAN?
I’ve got a couple New Mac Pros in house and running PPro 7.2.2 on 10.9.2. Yes, 10.9.3 hosed one that auto updated, but I was able to roll it back to 10.9.2 One is on an island with a Thunderbolt 2 12TB raid doing a full 4K TV pilot. The other is connected to an Isilon. Up until some large stills were dropped into the sequence causing some crashing, Premiere has been running great for weeks on the new Mac Pros. This includes 4 camera 4K Multi cam, mix of Sony F55 and Red 4K footage, down to regular XDCAM50 and DVCPROHD projects. I have not put the new version that released yesterday on any of the new mac pros as we are trying to get the pilots done and testing on some other 10gig server thunderbolt connection boxes. I’ll probably put it on some of our bays with older Mac Pro’s, but still need to test some workflow issues before jumping right in.
Premiere has improved immensely over the past year and there are some things you just need to tweak to get better performance or adjust work flows. Yes there can be crashing and bugs, but what NLE doesn’t have them. Adobe has been very aggressive in responding to users with feature updates and bug fixes in a pretty fast fashion. Most AJA cards have had audio issues with Premiere for the past few years. AJA even has a tech note about it on their site and lists options in their read me with the drivers. Were you having perfect audio playback with all your preferences set to AJA input and output in System Prefs and Premiere Prefs? The only work around I’ve had work is in System prefs to change Output to Line out, Input to AJA 3G, then change your audio hardware in Premiere to Built in output and de-select AJA 3G in the playback menu. You need to take a 1/8 headphone cable from the back of your machine output and run it into a mixer connected to your speakers and playback should be clean going forward. This has been a way we have handled the AJA audio playback issues for all our bays with 7.2.2 on up.

Jim, our editors are seeing similar issues with Loudness Radar. Some files export fine, some off by 10-20db when QC’d with master control hardware Dolby 11M-100 boxes. I have spoken to some audio engineers and some are recommending the iZotope Insight plugin. (https://www.izotope.com/en/products/mixing-mastering/insight/) to measure calm compliant exports.
Only issue here is that it only works in 5.1 tracks in premiere vs. full use in Audition.

Frank, I’m testing a new mac pro with a 12TB Promise Pegasus2 R6 raid 5 drive currently with Sony F55 and Red footage. We are doing a 4 camera multi cam and its playing back pretty well. Current Premiere CC build 7.2.2.
