Thanks! Good feedback!
I would consider inexpensive to be less than $500, but am interested in suggestions that are less than $1200. In particular I am looking for actual camera model recommendations. I will definitely look into the models you suggested, Ryan! Thanks!
We definitely need the camera to hook into the church’s sound system, so must have an audio input and headphone jack.
I like your idea about getting a cheap camcorder for the sermon/talking head, and a DSLR for the projects needing more post-production. Good idea!

July 13, 2012 at 12:24 pm in reply to: Will I have problems editing HD video on an old Adobe Premiere CS1?Ok, I see that now.
Any ideas? Can I convert the AVCHD into some standard format that my old Premiere can handle? Can I set the AVCHD camera to record in an old standard format that this premiere can hold? What would you do if you had a new AVCHD camera, but an old Premiere, but still needed to edit it?

When I try hitting CTRL+D with the playhead at a transistion, nothing happens…what’s this trick shortcut that I’m not doing right?

If it works, I guess don’t worry…
but I think I’ve had this before too…to fix it look at your Project Pane…there’s tabs for “project”, “menus”, “timelines”, and “disc”.
Once you select the “DISC” tab, the “properties” pane (for me, it’s on the top right of the screen) will change to the Entire DVD Disc’s properties. I believe the thing you were describing is under that “disc properties” tab. Play with those properties and see if it fixes it.
Does that help?

Encore 2.0 should have presets already loaded. Look for a tab called “Library”. If you don’t see it, go up to “Window” and make sure “library” is checked. On the “library” pane, there’s a row of tiny buttons…the farthest left is for preset menu designs.
Pick one of those preset designs, and drag it into your project pane. Then you’ll have to make timelines for your videos, and set the links on that preset menu to link to your timelines.
Does that help?

Hey, yes, thank you…
The problem is fixed when you burn a DVD. Encore’s “Preview” doesn’t handle it, but when you burn, it’s okay.

April 12, 2007 at 5:30 pm in reply to: Invigorator Classic won’t recognize the holes in my logoOK…I toyed around a bit. Once I “created outlines” for the type, then I was able to “make compound path”.
Now the holes show up in Invigorator! Booyah! Thanks for your help, everyone!
related question: next to the circle logo in the illustrator file was the text name of our company. Now that I did the compound path thingy, the circle logo shows up ok, but the text that was next to it in the illustrator file is gone?

April 12, 2007 at 4:45 pm in reply to: Invigorator Classic won’t recognize the holes in my logoI tried to make the compound path and illustrator says:
“Can’t make a compound path. All objects in a compund path must be paths, and the cannot be brushed or be part of an object.”
I’ll be the first to tell you I need to learn a LOT about Illustrator. Here’s what I did to make the very simple logo:
-Used Illustrator’s Ellipse tool to make a circle. Set it to “black” color fill.
-Used Illustrator’s type tool to make the letters “SA”. Set it to “white” color fill.
-Used direct select tool to move the white letters atop the black circle. That’s all. Any advice how to make that correctly in illustrator?
And thanks again everybody!

April 12, 2007 at 1:26 pm in reply to: Invigorator Classic won’t recognize the holes in my logoAnd–supposing I figure out how to select only the letters inside the circle…if I move them closer on the z-axis, doesn’t that mean the back face will still be solid? Ideally, I want the letters to be holes all the way through the object so you can see lights through the letters.
Thanks for your help, Jon!
