Will I have problems editing HD video on an old Adobe Premiere CS1?

I was under the impression that Adobe started bundling the video applications under the name “Production Studio” with Premiere Pro v2, but ether way, Ann is right, you will not be able to edit AVCHD with it.

The diference is that if you have version 2 you will be able to edit HDV, so you could rent a HDV camera instead. You’re probably better off using a different program if you plan to make a habit of editing stuff for your church.

I think it was called Adobe Video Production Standard or Professional.
Anyway you can edit HDV in Premiere Pro 1.5.1.

Ok, I see that now.

Any ideas? Can I convert the AVCHD into some standard format that my old Premiere can handle? Can I set the AVCHD camera to record in an old standard format that this premiere can hold? What would you do if you had a new AVCHD camera, but an old Premiere, but still needed to edit it?

If you have a decent system (64-bit, RAM, etc…) and can edit your project in 30 days, why not download the Production Premium trial and give it a go? There’s no watermarking or anything else – fully functioning.
