Sorry Olivier, that’s not correct. The Decklink Pro has no analog output – you cannot connect the Pro to anything unless it has an SDI input. You can purchase SDI-Analog convertors, but frankly I’d be more inclined to replace the card for a Decklink Extreme.

Apply Time Remapping to the footage layer. A Start and End keyframe will be created for you. Move to the frame you want to freeze on and add a time remapping keyframe. Change it to a Hold keyframe. If the original End keyframe occurs in the visible timeline you will need to delete it.

Buy yourself an 802.11g Wireless Router, and a wireless card for the laptop if it doesn’t already have it. Any name brand router will include instructions for installation of a Windows network. When you are moving large volumes of information, plug into the router with a cable. When you’re not, you just turn the laptop on for general file sharing over the wireless network. Plus, you can annoy your wife/mom/significant other by checking your email at the dinner table.

I use an off-the-shelf Belkin model which does a great job, and switches seamlessly between Mac and PC as well.

Posterize Time doesn’t alter playback speed, it just alters the number of frames displayed. You can alter the playback rate of a layer with Layer/Time Remapping or Layer/Time Stretch. You can also define the frame rate of footage items in the project window with Interpret Footage.

All DV footage (NTSC and PAL) is captured lower field first. Make certain your Premiere project settings are ALL lower field first. In AE, you should definitely interpret the footage (in the project window) lower field as well.
When you render the final Quicktime, the editor needs to tell you what the field order of his/her system is. If it’s DV based, it will be lower field first. In PAL land, many higher end devices and capture cards (like Decklink, Kona etc) use upper field first.

This PC-specific problem can often be fixed by uninstalling and re-installing Quicktime.
