Definitely deinterlace first! Magic Bullet relies on the most pristine of images to deinterlace and de-artifact. Applying any processing before the Magic Bullet deinterlace stage will reduce it’s ability to interpret vectors for deinterlacing.
As an afterthought, if you’re processing in AE anyway, why not process the Look Suite stuff there as well? Then just let the whole thing render over the weekend in one step.
If your captured material is Upper Field First – which sounds to me like you’ve captured via a Decklink card or equivalent – then that’s what you tell Magic Bullet to interpret. Don’t worry about the original DV field order – the field order is detrmined by the capture device.
Remember you actually interpret the footage in AE WITHOUT fields, and render full frames no-fields as well. The only place you designate field order is within the MB plugin itself.

Are you definitely inserting a Betacam SP tape, and not a Digital Betacam or an older standard Betacam tape? The UVW decks only accept BetaSP tapes and will reject any others.

If I understand right you have a Main Comp which contains a precomp (lets call it Precomp 1). You want to replace Precomp 1 with Precomp 2, which is a different size to precomp 1.
I’d create a new comp, Precomp 3, which is the same size as precomp 1. Place Precomp 2 in Precomp 3 and resize to fill the comp. Now replace Precomp 1 in the Main Comp with Precomp 3.

Not sure if s! wants to precomp in this instance – he wants to apply keyframes to each layer and then re-position them, which is not possible in a precomping situation.
If all your layers are currently aligned, the job is easy. Just set your filters and keyfames on one layer, select the keyframes and copy them, then select all the other layers together and choose paste. Then sequence the layers as required.

After Effects is a video compositing tool, not a DVD authoring tool. Create the slideshow within Encore DVD.

In the old days of Premiere 6.5, you could import separate matte and fill layers (RGB and alpha components as seperate video files) and I presume you can still do the same thing. (Sorry, don’t use Premiere anymore myself)
But seriously, if your clips are “a few seconds” as you say, why can’t you use uncompressed files? If you are so short on disk space then a hard drive upgrade will make your system run more reliably, faster, and allow you to retain the quality your work deserves.

Some of the above posts are very confusing, sorry. The simple answer to your question:
Create a solid above your masked layer.
Copy and paste the mask from the arrow layer to the new one. Delete (or deactivate) the mask from the arrow layer.
Set track matte option of the lower (arrow) layer to Alpha Matte.
Move lower layer as much as you like.

Since I bought Magic Bullet I haven’t touched Cinelook once. Film doesn’t have to look grungy – just watch your favourite feature film off DVD and note how crisp and pristine the pictures are. Unless your favourite film is the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre or something.
Cinelook’s plugins are all about grunge, noise, grain etc. Magic Bullet gives you all that if you want it, they’re both very similar in thaat respect, but ALSO lets you create true film looks WITHOUT noise and grain.
