On mask/path based art, try the Scribble effect.

Man…calling Dr. Katz “that OLD TV show” Am I really getting that old?!?!

The actual terminology used to describe this effect is, I believe…”squigglevision”. Pioneered / Developed by, I believe, Tom Snyder.

I have reasearched this as well, and I found that the *wiggle* parameter in Vector paint does a really good job (the best I have found so far) of mimicing the effect. But I haven’t found a way to get anything other than hand drawn shapes into the vector art editor.

That *jiggle* effect from the Alien Skin link does a good job of replicating it…but I think if you check out that wiggle parameter in the vector paint…you’ll be more impressed with the “individual randomness” that it provides. That jiggle effect seems to move more of the segment of a letter, than squiggling each pixel of the line.

Maybe I am being to picky though!!

I have somewhat replicated the effect using turbulent displacement using a lot of complexity and random seeds (like 80000)and a small value for AMOUNT. It is very slow but looks pretty close. I will look into those plugins.

    thanks
